Candles are the perfect gift, regardless of the occasion. But who wouldn’t also want their gifts to be in perfect wrapping? Since candles are a unique shape, it is not as simple as wrapping a box

Candles Gifts

We know just how exciting it is to receive a gift from someone, and it is even more exciting and amazing to give gifts! Why not add a touch of flair and passion by wrapping candles beautifully and conveniently?

The majority of candles are housed in a glass container, meaning they are fragile. Choosing strong yet stylish materials is a must when wrapping candles.

In the article, we are going to go over several popular and easy methods on how to wrap your candles and give the perfect gift.

Wrap And Gather Method For Candles

If you want to wrap candles vertically, the wrap and gather method is the way to go.

Step 1: Gather the Materials

You will need:

  • Fabric scissors
  • Small roles of tape
  • Wrapping paper/fabric
  • Ribbon/string

Step 2: Cut the Wrapping Paper

With a large piece of fabric, cut the section so that it is large enough to wrap and gather over the candle.

Step 3: Wrap The Gift Wrap Round the Candles

Once the material is cut, place the candle in the center, standing upright.

Regardless of the type, make sure that the material is set on a flat surface.

Next, grab the corners of the wrapping paper and bring it up, wrapping the candle in the process.

Here is where you can get creative! Some expert gift wrappers gently wrap the candle, meaning there is extra space between the candle and the gift wrap. If you choose to do this, you will have plenty of space to add other gifts and treats.

Step 4: Gather And Tie The Gift Wrap

Gather the corners of the paper/fabric together at the top, a bit above the candle, and then use a ribbon or string to tie them together.

Hint: Add Your Style To The Gift Wrap!

Although you can use a thin string to tie the gift wrap, a good addition would be a ribbon! These are affordable, gorgeous, and add an extra touch of creativity to your candle gift. A simple tie is more than enough, but you can glue the ribbon to the gift if you want to.

The Tootsie Roll Method for Candles

You have likely seen tootsie roll gift wraps during the holidays. This is a favorite method because of how gorgeous and unique it is. As long as you have plenty of gift wrap, it is perfect!

So, how can we wrap candles like a tootsie roll?

Step 1: Gather The Materials

First, you need to gather the materials. Choose a design, color, and texture you love. Don’t forget to also take a pair of scissors and tape.

Step 2: Lay The Gift Wrap Flat

Secondly, lay the gift wrap flat on the floor or on a table. Make sure that the gift wrap is completely flat. The best way to do this is to tape down the edges so the material doesn’t curl.

Step 3: Position The Candles

Thirdly, place your candle in the center of the gift wrap. But this time, you are placing the candle flat, and not vertical. It should be directly in the center and aligned to the middle. Sometimes, it is necessary to cut the gift wrapping paper in the shape of a triangle. You want to leave around an inch of extra paper on either side of the candle.

Step 4: Twist Both Ends Of The Gift Wrap

Step 4 is a favorite because that is when your gift wrapping starts to look like a tootsie roll! Wrap the wrapping paper around the candle. After it is completely rolled, add a small amount of tape to the side so that the paper sticks together. Afterward, grasp each side of your wrapping paper and twist!

Step 5: Decorate to Your Heart’s Desire!

In the last and final step, you can decorate to your heart’s desire! This means tying the twisted ends of your wrapping paper with ribbons and strings. Some expert gift wrappers add their own flair and style by adding large bowls, gemstones, and more!

What Is The Best Material for your Candles?

Regardless of the candle gift wrapping method you use, choosing the type of material is necessary. Although gift wrapping paper is the most affordable option, the quality can be low, meaning that it may tear or rip easily. If you are traveling a far distance, a sturdier gift wrapping material is best.

Some people use cellophane. This almost translucent and shiny material is perfect if you don’t mind that the gift receiver knows what is in their gift! For those who want an element of surprise, there are many hardy and thick fabrics that can hide the outer appearance of the candle gifts. Fabrics like canvas, denim and even corduroy can work wonders.

Wrapping Candles For Gift Bags

Do you have multiple gifts to give to your family and friends? Using a gift bag is a perfect option!

Step 1: Gather The Materials

First, you will need to find a bag that is the right size for the candles. To add an element of surprise, find a gift bag that is taller and wider than the candles. You will also need decorations as needed and tape.

Step 2: Lightly Wrap The Candles With The Fabric

Using the materials gathered above, lightly wrap the candles. Wax paper with sparkles and vibrant colors is a great choice. Alternatively, simply wrap the candles in some decorative tissue paper and scrunch it so it lightly forms the shape of the candle. You can also use the wrap and gather method that we have mentioned as well.

You can get away with weaker wrapping materials for this method since the gift bag will provide extra protection and stability.

Step 3: Add Accessories And Cellophane To The Bag

Once the candles are carefully wrapped in your desired material, don’t forget to place them in the gift bag! Inside the same gift bag, add tulle, other cloth-like materials, confetti, and more! With the extra fabric and paper, fluff the top out so that the paper dangles from the sides of the gift bag.

Step 4: Place The Remaining Gifts In The Bag!

Usually when you have more then one gift, it is best to use a gift bag. After you place the beautiful decorations and the carefully wrapped candles, add the rest of your gifts! Be sure to hide them, that way they are a welcoming surprise!

Bonus: Fanning Gift Wrapping Technique

Have you ever heard of the fanning gift wrapping technique? This method takes time, patience, and a steady hand, but it is all worth it!

Step 1: Gather And Cut

First, you will need to gather the materials. Although you can use any type of fabric and wrapping paper, we recommend using something that is easier to fold and hold its shape. Newspaper can be a great substitute and looks retro and artistic using this fan method.

Newspaper is easier to fold and manipulate since it is not too thick. Cut the paper so that it is large enough to wrap around the candle twice!

Step 2: Begin Folding

Folding the newspaper to get the well-known and loved fan effect is tricky. You will need to first fold 1-2 inches inward. The flap that is left, fold backward. It should look like an accordion. This first piece is going to be the bottom of the candle.

Step 3: Repeat Step 2

Some people prefer gathering the rest of the paper and tying it at the top. However, if you want to show off your gift wrapping and fanning skills, you can repeat step 2 for the top of the candle as well. Tape down any leftover paper.

Step 4: Decorate Both Sides of the Candles With A Bow Or String

A gift cannot be a gift without style and some form of decorations! As soon as you are done wrapping and creating a fan design for your candle, you can decorate both the top and the bottom of the candle!
